Why Did the Koala Cross the Road?

Who the heck would know? But, what we do know is that they use these ingenious little wire screens to do it.

Turns out that a Koala Bear – technically not a bear – moves pretty slow and cannot get up and over a median very quickly (much like our deer). Therefore, the government has placed these little screens up and down highly trafficked areas of the road so that the bears can get up and over and on their merry way.

We will be visiting a Koala sanctuary later this week where we should be able to hold one. However, it seems that when they get nervous…they pee. So, chances are I will not be going first on this adventure.

More later…
