Typhoid Mary in the Hizzy

Well, this was the trip that almost wasn't. After spending weeks getting ready for Australia, I came down with a nasty bout of the crud. But, after massive doses of antibiotics, a B-12 shot, one tear from a virgin unicorn and a pact with the devil - I made it.

As you can see from the picture, my team leader Pam was kind enough to buy me these little masks to wear around my ears...think Asian Bird Flu. At first, I fought wearing it because I didn't want people to think I had the bird flu. Then I realized that with my Rotary International hat on, they probably just thought I had polio

Either way, the take away lesson is this: people don't mess with people in medical masks. It is a fact.

Learn it. Live it. Pass it on.

PS - The most ironic part of this whole story is that another team member, Sarah, spent 15 hours next to a lady who actually checked her customs form saying she DID have TB. I mean, you can't make it up.
